What is the difference between a glasses and a contacts prescription?

A contacts prescription includes everything needed to fit a lens on your eye, such as base curve, diameter, and a specific brand, while a glasses prescription does not. The powers can also differ because contacts sit directly on the eye and glasses sit in front of it. You cannot order contacts with a glasses prescription alone.
